We listen to music when we’re happy, sad, stressed or excited; Music forms the accompaniment to our lives.
Music is first experienced in the womb and continues to play a significant role when we become adults. A child exposed to music at the first, and most crucial stage of development, is a child that will have a firm foundation for lifelong learning.
Babies recognise melodies and will sway, bounce or move their hands in response to music they hear; this is why musical activities and classes are suitable from birth. Toddlers enjoy dancing and moving to music, they also like listening to, and responding to rhymes and songs. Repetition plays a strong part in learning, so continuing musical activities at home is highly recommended and aims to support. Parental engagement in classes is key to feeling confident in creating music time with your child at home. Sharing music with your little one can be an enjoyable bonding experience.
