Avocado & Apple Puree

A great first mix of purees.
Avocado & Apple Puree

Ingredients
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 eating apple
  • A little water (if needed)
  • A dash of lime juice (optional)
Makes lots of portions - ideal for freezing in icecube trays for weaning

How to make Avocado & Apple Puree
  1. Peel, core and quarter the apple and then peel, remove the stone and chop the avocado
  2. Steam the apple until soft (approximately 20mins), either using a steamer or by placing in a colander over a pan of simmering water and covering (you could boil the butternut squash instead, if you prefer)
  3. In a bowl, blend the apple and avocado together into a smooth puree, adding some water if required (just enough to get the right consistency) – a hand blender will give the smoothest texture, but a food processor or blender can also be used
  4. Adding a tiny amount of lime juice when blending will help to prevent the puree from turning brown, but be careful not to add to much as you don’t want a sour taste
  5. For an even smoother texture, push the puree through a fine sieve
