Post Natal Depression

Did you know that as many as one in four mums are thought to be affected by post-natal depression?

But more commonly it is suggested that 10% of mothers suffer from PND.

Would you like to be one of the 90% who don’t?

Postnatal depression (PND) can sometimes be confused with the baby blues. If you get the baby blues, you will feel miserable, weepy, tired and tense during the first few days after giving birth. It is thought to be because of the huge hormonal changes pregnancy and birth creates in your body. This is normal and with the right support, you should feel better within a few days.

However, PND, unlike the baby blues, is an illness. It's unlikely to go away without intervention or treatment.

It is commonly recognized that there are certain factors that are key in helping mothers have a positive parenting experience within the early days of motherhood
  • An extended support network
  • A calm environment with as little stress or worry as possible
  • A supportive and understanding partner
  • A positive birth experience
And Mums and More believe there is one more factor
  • Awareness and understanding of the emotional and personal changes you go through, coupled with proven strategies to manage those changes.
