Breakfast is the Most Important Meal of the Day

A very important step to losing and maintaining weight is starting your day with a healthy breakfast. So, no more saying, ‘I don’t have time,’ or ‘I’m trying to lose weight so I’ve stopped eating breakfast.’

Did you know that those who regularly eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight?

When you skip breakfast your blood sugar levels drop below the normal level and you’ll most likely experience cravings and a drop in energy. This results in grabbing a ‘quick snack’ mid-morning which is usually a high sugar food like biscuits, pastries or a muffin. These sorts of foods cause an immediate surge in your blood sugar level which results in your body needing to release insulin to remove the excess sugar from your blood turning its excess into fat = WEIGHT GAIN!

By eating 5 small meals a day (3 meals plus 2 snacks) which starts with a healthy breakfast, you can maintain your blood sugar level which will result in your body using its own stored fats to get more energy = WEIGHT LOSS!

Not sure what to eat for breakfast?

Breakfast should include protein and plenty of fibre; the combination will help satisfy your hunger and will keep you feeling full. The protein can come from low-fat meat, eggs, nuts or dairy products. High-fibre foods include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
